Current Opening: Interoperability Combat System Engineer
Seeking mid- to senior-level experienced individuals to test, analyze, and assess the Interoperability performance of the Aegis Combat System (ACS) with other Navy and Joint platforms. This is a highly technical position that entails testing combat systems in labs and on ships, analyzing data using automated tools in a cloud-based environment, and identifying and documenting issues that impact system Interoperability performance.
Accepted candidates will join a small team of highly experienced engineers who will provide on-job mentorship. Work is to be performed in Dahlgren, VA, with moderate travel required to predominately NJ, DC, CA, and eastern VA. Occasional at-sea travel on Aegis ships will be required. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires a security clearance of at-minimum SECRET and a four-year degree as noted below.
Job Responsibilities
Analyze data from Aegis elements, focused mainly on Command & Decision (C&D) but also the SPY radar system, Weapon Control System (WCS), and the Command and Control Processor (C2P).
Analyze system data to identify and resolve system issues, resolve analysis cases, assess interoperability performance issues, and to assess the overall safety of the program for release to the Fleet.
Design, develop, configure, and/or use programs to automate combat system analysis.
Set criteria for test events to ensure adequate coverage of metrics and other assessment requirements.
Review the technical implementation of the ACS in various Baselines in order to develop and maintain appropriate metrics.
Define requirements for automated test tools to assist in issue and metrics analysis.
Develop technical briefs to provide structure and status of efforts.
Participate in test events both in lab and on ship as a system operator.
Observe test events and document issues relating to assigned functional areas for later analysis.
Provide feedback to analysis and engineering community on issues, system performance, and test coverage completeness.
Troubleshoot system issues in real-time to identify and resolve configuration issues.
Candidate Requirements
BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer/Physical Science, or a related technical field, from an accredited college or university.
Current or interim security clearance of at least SECRET.
5+ years of technical experience with Navy Combat, Weapon, and/or Sensor Systems, such as system engineering, analysis, test, design, development, and/or modeling.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
